Balance and Proprioception - Sensory Motor Training Demystified

Balance is the ability to keep control over the body's center of mass. Proprioception is the ability to receive and process sensory input about where the body is in space.  Joint and head injuries can often impair these essential skills. Proper training can restore these functions and abilies to a remarkable degree. Aspects brought into play are surface stability, stance, head position, visual input, spatial movement, weight transfer and multitasking. Proprioceptive and balance training can go a long way towards rehabilitation and prevention of injury.
