I adopted the diet and faithfully followed the protocol only refusing to stick myself with glucose meters ketone test strips. I wrote down everything I ate and spent a full 6 weeks at an average intake of 1500 calories, 66% from fat, 28% protein, 6% carbohydrate. For me this was a calorie restricted diet that took me from 138 lb to a low of 127.6. A good portion of this was fat loss, as I could that my belly fat rapidly disappeared. In addition, I was never hungry, could easily fast, comfortably skipping some meals entirely.

The downside was that my energy levels were all over the place, sometimes extremely high but usually extremely low. I wasn't sure how much of this was caused by low carbs or just low calories, but I was consistantly dropping weight. I decided to write off the fatgue to calorie restriction.

Enter the fatal diagnosis : Total cholesterol of 307.

At the approximately the 6 week mark I went to the doctor for a blood test. While my cholesterol into the diet had not been low at 240 it was now over 300. The doctor's office was alarmed. "10mg of Crestor, start immediately!" they said. I decided to speak to the doctor personally before starting statins.
I panicked, abandoned ketogenisis and reached for the oatmeal. I made matters worse by dosing on Italian Bread, glasses of wine and piles of Hershey's kisses. I fell into a stupor and awoke feeling awful.

It hit me that alchohol and carb fests might not be the answer I was searching for.

LDL on a Keto Diet.

I was frustrated. All my blood markers had improved on a keto diet except two: blood sugar snd LDL Cholesterol. (Triglycerides yet to be determined).

I started researching the literature to discover that LDL levels on a keto diet where just as likely to rise as to fall!

HDL seemed pretty consistently fall, along with triglycerides and blood sugar. But LDL was all over the map. What the keto adherents wanted you to belive is that a rise in LDL was essentially meaningless in terms of risk for heart attack or stroke. That one belief was more than my doctor could bear. "I want your LDL down to 110," she said. "I won't accept any thing kess."

I'm a pretty buff dude with one small problem: I stand only about 5' 2". I've been riding bikes for recreation and fitness all my life, but was never blessed with a bike that really fit.

Truth to tell, there just weren't many reasonably priced production bikes south of 47 centimeters.

Enter the Liv Avail, a female oriented bike that boasts stock models down to extra, extra small. At about 35+ centimeters, the Liv is about the smallest production bike around.

But would it suit a male rider?

There seemed to be issues. Firstly, the the bike seat was designed for broader hips and bones. And bike geometry was supposedly optimized for a "female" center of graviy. Might these tweaks cancel the advantage of a truly small frame for a little guy like me?

Not in the least. From the moment mounted the bike I was nothing but a pleasure.

The black green and teal color scheme was anything but "feminine". It looked like it meant business. The seat was racy enough, and comfortable. And the reach and standover were everything a smaller rider could ask for.

The bike felt agile and quick. Forty miles later the verdict was in: small fast and comfortable, the Avail was the best bike I had ridden to date.

My last such foray took me up the North/South Westchester Trailway as far as Carmel, NY. Just on the edge of wildness, this trail piqued my interest for more. I googled around the area and stumbled on the Nimham State Forest Preserve, a world class mountain biking destination.

I was stoked!

Here is a tutorial on the sprawl, the number one defense to a takedown in wrestling. The sprawl essentially flattens out your opponent, disallowing them from gaining leverage to take you down after a penetration shot. Some people ask how to defend against a tackle, which is just a sloppy double leg, and this is how you're going to do it!
MMA is becoming popular and the skills used in the ring are now getting transferred to the street. When used it is even more dangerous on the street due to surroundings and no rules apply. Master shows in these videos how dangerous it can be when applying it for self defence. Please careful when training and learning these techniques. Safety always come first!
of progressions to develop the one-legged squat. We've talked about
adding the Candlestick Roll and using its momentum as an assistance to
the Pistol, but now Carl is on to exploring the strict version of the
Pistol and exploring why it is so challenging for some athletes.

In this first video, Carl demonstrates a number of quick tests and drills
to diagnose and challenge the athlete with regards to balance, strength,
and mobility for the Pistol. Just like any other movement, as soon as
we remove a point of contact and decrease the base of support, we
instantly increase the difficulty as there are more degrees of freedom
and less stability. When this happens, we need to go back to check that
our movement mechanics are solid before removing the point of contact,
and in this case we have to test to make sure our Squat and Lunge
mechanics are solid before we attempt the Pistol.
